A Little Birdie Told Me
I remember being at my grandmother's house and getting lost in the corner hutch full of the unique and fun assortment of salt and pepper shakers. And just when you think that you have seen them all... you would look again later and see something totally different. It all started in the 70's when she received a gift from her son... a set of skunks with a fuzzy tail. She was so delighted and excited that it started a collection that grew bigger than anyone could ever imagine. She would get them as gifts from her children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren. When she passed and it was time to go through her things, they were found all over the house. She had them tucked in boxes in closets, dresser drawers in the extra bedrooms, totes under beds, and displayed in every nook and corner of her house.
Even though she is not with us anymore, the memories live on. Anytime I see a fun set of salt and pepper shakers in a store, at a garage sale, or even in someone's home... I automatically think of her.
