Have a Question... maybe it is answered here
Do you Ship?
Yes! I will send you an email with shipping confirmation and tracking codes.
Does it come with a frame?
All of my originals are framed in a black floater frame with a wire hanger on the back.
All of my print reproductions come unframed and are standard sizes to make framing easy.
Why is there red/pink in the background?
Please say hello to Rose Madder! HA!
People tend to get confused when they see my works in progress. . . they see these big spaces of messy red/pink all over the canvas while the image that I am painting starts to emerge. What they do not realize is that this is my ground color. What is ground?!?!?! ---Short for 'background', a ground is the very first layer of paint (or other wet medium) applied to an artwork. It is an undercoat, which can either be covered entirely by subsequent media, or left visible in the final work. Using a ground has several practical advantages, as well as some important aesthetic ones.--- Thanks google, HA!
Sooooo. . . why do I use this ground???
A few reasons. . .
1. A blank canvas can be intimidating. I like to throw some messy paint on the nice clean canvas so that it does not feel like I am going to mess it up. . . it's already a mess! Ha!
2. I love the idea of layers in my art. Life is full of layers and I try to translate that in my pieces.
3. It adds depth. . . when those little pieces of red show through next to the colors that I love to use, they just sing!
4. I might be an addict! LOL! I started using this red/pink ground many years ago and I still love it.
Why Legos?
Playing with Legos with my brother growing up is one of my favorite memories. It's a memory I can hear, HA! He would make the most amazing ships and vehicles and I was always drawn to the minifigure. I would make houses and castles with trap doors with secret rooms that the minifigures could go in and out of. Nostalgia is my thing... what's more nostalgic than Legos?!?!
Why do your figures have no faces?
When I painted my very first one, I wanted to give it the feeling that it was loved and played with so much that the face had rubbed off... like some of the minifigures that I have had since childhood.
Do I own all these objects?
Yes! Most of them anyway!
I love my tattered books...
I have 2 Royal Typewriters...
My grandson LOVES playing with my Legos and dinosaurs in my studio...
and the board games are still used weekly at our family game night.
